Classrooms

St Benedict’s is co-educational, catering for boys and girls from Years 1 – 8. Most live in the Ngaio, Khandallah, Broadmeadows, Johnsonville area. Some travel from other parts of Wellington to attend our school.

Most students are NZ European. We do however consider ourselves a multicultural school as we have students from all around the world attend St Benedict’s.  30 nationalities are represented.

St Benedict’s is a signatory to the Code of Compliance for International Students, and we accept enrolments for fee-paying students from other countries. Currently we have 8 international students.

We aim to foster an environment where students:

·         Feel they belong and are accepted as a special person, created by God, with individual gifts and needs.

·         Develop a positive attitude towards learning and are equipped with the skills necessary for independent learning.

·          Are challenged to develop initiative, co-operation, self discipline and independence, with a sense of responsibility and fair play.

·         Show respect and develop an acceptance and concern for all people and for the environment.

Classrooms:

There are 11 classes. Each classroom is equipped with desks or tables, chairs, a library corner, computers, warm carpets, heaters, shelving, basins, water and wet areas. Students’ bags are put in cloak bays. We aim to keep the classrooms comfortable, airy, with plenty of natural light, and child focused.

Provision has been made for disabled access and toileting.

Students art work is very visible throughout the school, and displays are changed regularly.

Cyclical upgrading of the classrooms occurs.
