Term 3 2010 Our Year 1, 2 & 3 students had a great time at the Junior Cross-country held on 5 August. Photos here.
New desktop computers are being installed in Week 3 in some senior and middle classrooms, replacing our oldest PCs. We are also re-allocating some of our existing computers. This means that all junior and middle classrooms will have 2 - 3 computers and all senior classrooms will have 4 - 5 computers. All classrooms also have access to a set of laptops that can be booked for student use.
Grandparents' Day was celebrated on 26 July with a Mass and morning tea. We had a fantastic turnout this year - thank you to all those that attended.
In Week 2 all Year 1 - 6 students attended a performance of the Royal New Zealand Air Force Band at the Town Hall. This was an excellent concert that was enjoyed by all.
Term 3 began on 19 July. Our major event this term will be the Production, which will be performed on the 1st and 2nd of September.
Term 2 2010 We celebrated St Benedict's Day on the last day of Term 2. We began with a Mass at the church, then the whole school participated in games and activities organised by our Year 8 students.
Congratulations to Sarah G, Narubate and Olivia C who came in 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively in our school Science Fair. Congratulations also to Hugh, Isabella, Conor, Thomas, Bridget, Gabriel and Andrew who made the top 10. All of these students' Science Fair projects will go on the NIWA Science Fair at Victoria University in Term 3.

Week 4: Our Electives programme is underway for Term 2. All students are able to select a class to join for an hour every Friday. We have a wide range of activities to choose from, such as Sport, Mural Painting, Ukulele Orchestra, Guitar lessons, Crafty Corner, Photography, Journalism, Drama, Animation etc. Photos here.
We have received our 3-yearly report from the Education Review Office, and were very pleased with their findings. Read the summary of the report here. The full version should be up on the ERO website soon.
The rubber matting has been pulled up from our grass area, and grass seed replanted thanks to fundraising by our parent group HOK. The grass is growing well and starting to look great. Photos here.
Term 1 2010 Our Mission Fair on 25 March was a huge success. The Year 6, 7 & 8 students were able to raise more than $1600 for the Haitian earthquake appeal, by running an impressive array of stalls and activities. Photos here.
Our Year 8 students spent a week at the Outdoor Pursuits Centre in Tongariro National Park from 1 - 5 March. The students had many opportunities to challenge themselves and develop confidence and independence. Some of the activities they took part in were caving, abseiling, raft-building, orienteering and camping out in tents. Huge thanks to the parents that attended the camp and helped to make it a great success. Photos here.
A team from the Education Review Office spent Week 4 at St Benedict's School carrying out their 3-yearly review of the school. We look forward to receiving their report in about 6 weeks time.
Our Year 6 students returned on Friday 19 February from a successful and enjoyable three days at Forest Lake Camp in Otaki. Photos here.
