St Benedict's school enrols 95% of its students as children in Catholic Families. The students must be New Zealand citizens or residents. The Criteria for Enrolment is one of the following:
- The child has been baptised or is being prepared for Baptism in the Catholic Church.
- The child’s parents/ guardians have already allowed one or more of its siblings to be baptised in the Catholic Faith.
- At least one parent/guardian is a Catholic, and although their child has not yet been baptised, the child’s participation in the life of the school could lead the parents having the child baptised.
- With the agreement of the child’s parent/ guardian, a grandparent or other significant adult in the child’s life, such as an uncle or aunt or godparent, undertakes to support the child’s formation in the faith and practices of the Catholic Church.
- One or both of the child’s non-Catholic parents/guardians is preparing to become a Catholic.
If your child meets the criteria for enrolment, please follow the steps below. If your child does not meet the criteria, but you still want a place for him or her in the school, please contact the principal to discuss enrolment as a non-preference student.
- Download an application for enrolment form and fill it out. (download here)
- Ask your Parish Priest for a Preference Form.
- Send these 2 documents to St Benedict’s School.
- Your application will be responded to within a week. (There is no cost to apply for enrolment)
- If you have not already done so, arrange for an interview with the Principal and a tour of the school. Your child/children are welcome to accompany you for this visit.
- For New Entrants, invitations are sent to your child by the New Entrant teacher to visit the school 2 or 3 times prior to commencement date.
- Please contact the Principal if you have any questions or special considerations to discuss about your child.

- Copy of the child’s Baptism Certificate
- Preference Form
- For Enrolment as a New Entrant, we need to sight the Immunisation Records.
