Room 4 is sunny classroom with 25 Year 2 & 3 students. Fiona Barnett is the classroom teacher. The classroom is a busy one with students actively listening and learning. The year has started with a busy term, we have had swimming lessons, and a visit to the Marine Education centre in Island Bay. The children have enjoyed being involved in the Kia Kaha programme and continue to demonstrate their enthusiasm for learning across all curriculum areas. We had a special project making scarecrows that have successfully kept birds from our newly grassed area.
The children in Room 4 are developing skills that assist them to manage themselves and to think about how they can work effectively in groups. They enjoy working with their peers in the middle syndicate and visit their buddy class (Room 9) weekly and attend Mass with them each term.
Room 4 will be involved in a variety of activities throughout the rest of this school year including gymnastics and singing, as well as involvement in the school production, electives and athletics.
