Room 3 PDF Print E-mail
Room 3 is a great classroom to be in. We have the newest room in the school and it looks really cool. We have double doors which open to our very own patio and the school grass area. This means we can eat our lunch outside under our own shade sail, pop outside for a few minutes of fitness or do activities just outside our classroom.

The children in our class are mostly year 2s and boys! We have 4 year ones too and altogether there are only 7 girls.

In term 1 a digger came to prepare the soil for a new grass area. We observed the digger carefully and wrote stories about it. Here are some of our stories:

Today room 3 went out to see the digger. It was picking up material scraps and it looked like a dog picking up scraps. Also, it had claws. It has great big wheels and the big wheels have a path. (Henry, year 2)

The digger’s wheels go round and round in our field and we aren’t allowed in there for a month…I wonder where the digger has gone? I think it has gone to get a wash – a very, very good wash. (Francesca, year 1)

We had the show Hiwi the Kiwi come to our school in term 1. They challenged the school to do a writing competition about fishing and gave a fishing rod for the student who wrote the winning story. Each class put forward one name and Mrs Ellis drew the winner out of a hat. A student from room 3 won the fishing rod!!! Go Nathan!

This is his winning story:

In the weekend I went fishing. I caught an electric eel. I kept catching an electric eel. I couldn’t catch a fish. The fish wouldn’t come to the worm.

In term 2 for art we will be doing print making about autumn. We look forward to all the fun we will have doing this unit!
