The Role of the Board of Trustees

The school board has the overall responsibility for the school, including certain legal obligations covering responsibility for property, personnel, the proper management of school finances, reporting to the Ministry and the school community, and the charter undertaking. Every school's charter and mission statement reflect local needs and priorties. School boards ensure effective delivery of the curriculum, employ and dismiss staff, establish goals, develop and review policies, monitor performance, and employ, support and manage the Principal. (extracted from NZ School Trustees Assn's Introduction to Trusteeship).

Board Members

Boards of Trustees for Catholic integrated schools comprise elected members and those appointed by the Proprietors. Appointees are full members of the Board with all the same rights and obligations of other members. They also have particular responsibilities with respect to property management and the Special Character of the school.
