Welcome to the New Entrant/Year One class in Room Two. We are the entry class for St. Benedict’s and would love to have you visit us if you are considering joining our school.
Prospective pupils enjoy two morning visits in our classroom before they start school. They arrive for our morning prayers, play with us at morning tea and experience some of the hands-on, stimulating learning that is a feature of this school.
Parents are invited to stay for morning prayers and then collect their child at 12:00 noon.
We endeavor to keep our entry numbers low at the beginning of the year, to allow for growth throughout. As required and depending on class size, a new class is started for the New Entrants during the year.
Every effort is made to deliver an educational programme that is enjoyable and challenging for all. Thinking skills, including De Bono’s Six Thinking Hats, are an important component of our learning. We are learning to think flexibly, critically and creatively.
Our Catholic values of caring and respect are immersed in our class culture. Our programmes teach us to value our own and others’ differences so that we can work and play happily within and beyond our room.
We value the opportunity to work alongside others in our school; including the other Manuka Syndicate classes and our buddy class. We enjoy the opportunity to share our learning in regular Syndicate Assemblies and our buddy class meets with us weekly for shared reading, other activities and friendship.
If you have any queries, please don’t hesitate to contact me at the school.
